Cycle Seahaven Century Ride Sunday 17th September 07:00 Martello Tower

By Public demand, the ride is re-scheduled for a weekend day! Club Members Only.

For those of you who have wanted to ride 100 miles in a day, you now have the ideal opportunity on what must be the flattest and safest route from Seaford.

In order to be back in Seaford before it gets dark,  you must be able to maintain a moving average speed for the distance of at least 10 -11 mph.

For those of you doing the London to Brighton Off Road the following week, it’s a chance to have a recce of the route.

It is only open to adult club members, ie those aged 18 or more.

Wider tyres (at least 28mm, more if wet) are recommended for the track sections.

DISTANCE It’s a 100 mile ride, for those starting in Seaford, and will include several refreshment stops during the ride.

ROUTE The route basically follows National Cycle Route 2 along the coast between Seaford and Shoreham and then the Downs Link to a point about 3 miles north of Cranleigh, giving 100 miles for the round trip from the Martello.

In Newhaven, we’ll divert from NCN Route 2 to use our usual route via Valley Rd between the C7 and A259.

The Route:- https://ridewithgps.com/routes/15524370

TERRAIN Most of the route is reasonably flat and will involve cycling along promenades and cycle paths. Therefore, a bell is highly desirable. There are some hills such as those between Newhaven and Saltdean.

The road surface of the Downs Link is an unmetalled road, as such will be rough in parts, in wet weather the track may be under water.

REFRESHMENT/COMFORT STOPS Possible along the plotted route are:
Ovingdean Loo Stop
Carat’s Café at Southwick
Stan’s Bike Shack at Partridge Green
Costa Coffee or other Stops at Cranleigh.
There may be others.

***Please check the Rides Calendar on Sunday after 06:00, if the ride is cancelled then there will be a message to that effect. This may happen due to bad weather.****
