Committee Experience

Committee member and Chair since 2017/18. The 2018/19 year saw him work with the committee to raise the clubs profile, generate income and increase the membership through partnership projects. He steered CSH towards compliance with GDPR (Data Protection) and conducted a detailed review of Cycling UK Guidance and its insurance. He was the driving force behind The Ride the Downs project and CSH’s involvement with Centenary (Big) Park, putting a successful case for three e-bikes and Dr Bike tools for use by CSH.

Main Aims

Guy’s aims for 2019/2020 are to maximise opportunities for CSH whilst striving to retain its reputation as a friendly, welcoming club. He aims to support, inspire and work with the committee to meet the wishes of the membership in shaping their club during the year ahead.

Michelle Brett

Secretary
Deputy Membership Secretary
Website

Cycling Experience

Michelle’s first experience of getting back onto a bike after many years, was in the spring of 2018 when she decided that it would be a good way of getting out of the house and trying to get fit. Because of her auto-immune disease which often causes pain and fatigue, she decided that an electric bike would be the best way forward. Although not able to ride as much as she’d like in the colder weather, during the warmer weather she never looked back!

Committee Experience

Michelle has been on the CSH Committee since September of 2018, as a co-opted member in the role of Secretary and Webmaster. She has experience of running her own business alongside her husband, Gray, and has created websites for friends businesses.

Main Aims

To continue to support the Chairman and Treasurer in the role of Secretary and help out the other committee members in their roles wherever possible. She is also keen to take on individual projects for the club, and to keep the website up to date and running smoothly.

Denis Bass

Treasurer
Membership Secretary

Cycling Experience

Denis has cycled most of his life and grew into MTB in 1984. He now enjoys a mixture of MTB and road riding which also includes occasional cycling in France.

Committee Experience

He is involved in a number of motoring club and charity committees. Having been involved with the CSH committee since the inception of the club in 2009, he did a spell as Secretary in 2010. Since 2011 he has been the Treasurer, later linking the role with Membership Secretary, which is his current position. In 2018 he managed the introduction of GDPR for the club.

Main Aims

Over the past two years he have moved the club membership forward, changing the membership year to a calendar year and introducing the Household membership category. At the same time developing the change from cash payment to the use of standing order payments for all. It is his intention to complete this change during 2019, whilst at the same time promoting the growth of club membership by assisting others with the marketing of the club in any and every way possible. In addition he would like to continue to maintain and develop the membership records and the club accounts.

Late last year Kirstie was co-opted as Events organiser within the committee. She mainly helped organise the Ride the Downs project, actively assisted with Dr Bike and promoted events for the club. She also organised the two winter social events: the EosB (End of season BBQ) and the Christmas Party. Both were successful events with sufficient attendees and minimal expenditure. Kirstie also has a very creative side and has shown this with her many promotional posters and leaflets for the club.

Main Aims

Next year, as Events Organiser, Kirstie has a series of social and cycling events planned, such as: a Valentines Salsa Evening, Family Easter Egg Hunt, Summer Picnic, Summer BBQ, Halloween Party and Christmas Party. With plenty of ideas for rides too, such as ‘homing pigeon rides’ (trailer out and ride home), she is full of enthusiasm and can’t wait to continue! She’d love to see integration with members and suitable events for all, creating a warm and inclusive club.
