New Café Stop

Cyclists outside Ripe Village Stores

Cyclists outside Ripe Village Stores

Our Tuesday touring ride today was to a village through which we’ve often passed but never stopped. There was a pub but it never seemed to be open when we passed; it’s now boarded up! The village is Ripe and just opposite the old pub is Ripe Village Stores which, apart from having a Post Office inside, also has a café.

The café is fairly new so we gave it a try this morning. We were greeted with a warm welcome and invited to sit at a large table where our orders were taken. The staff were really cheerful and the service, food and drink were excellent. It’s certainly a cyclist friendly place so I’ve added it to my map of refreshment Stops. The link is:

Refreshment Stops

We’ll definitely be going back there soon.

Happy cycling,

Clive

Always good to see additional places to stop.
Where did you park your bikes? In the carpark of the Lamb Inn?

Can I add Spring Barn Farm, Lewes, as a good place for refreshments? It is at the end of the Lewes-Kingston cycleway and gives safe parking with proper cycle stands, and decent toilets. There is a range of teas, coffees, etc., as well as licensed drinks. There is also a good selection of cakes and meals and a “Country Stores” type of shop. It is part of a Farm Park so could get crowded in school holidays.

    Regards

    Tony

We left our bikes outside the shop but leaving them in the car park of the Lamb Inn (the derelict old pub) may be a possibility; it’s being auctioned soon so may not be possible if building work starts.

Thanks for the suggestion about Spring Barn Farm, Tony. I’ll try to incorporate it into a touring ride soon.

The Ripe Café stop is very friendly but they are closed on Sunday. They did rearrange the shop a few months back and you can clearly see the café area.
