Ladies and Gentleman, following on from the success of the London 2 Seaford it is proposed that we venture across the channel and see what our Gaelic cousins are up to!
The Route: The first day is formed by a large part of the London to Paris cycle route.
Next year, we propose to complete the ride to Paris!
Cycle routes where possible or quiet roads with some unavoidable busy sections when leaving and entering Town/City areas. The route will be self-guided but maps and downloads will be available.
You will have road crew available should you need them.
Ability: As per the London to Seaford it is advisable to train so that you are capable of at least 10mph. If you have a mountain bike – no problem – just speak to someone about adapting your bike for road use (or borrow a club bike). There is approximately 3000ft of climbing on each day. There is no pressure to cycle fast although you can if you want to.
Food: Breakfast and food during the ride will be provided (nothing fancy!)
Baggage: Your baggage will be carried but will be limited to one cabin bag sized bag.
EDIT: The allocated rooms for this trip are now full. Please feel free to inquire about space, but be aware that it may not be in the same hotels, or at the same cost.
Cost: We estimate the cost for each night to be about £40 per night for accommodation (sharing a room)
£60 for the crossing including a cabin on the way out.
Fee per rider for road crew (for baggage, support, rest stops, feed stations including the car crossing fee etc) £40 (One day £25)
EDIT: Due to DFDS not having enough cabins we’ve decided to catch the earlier boat which leaves Newhaven at 5.30pm and then stay overnight in Dieppe.
Sponsorship: Why not get sponsored to do this ride and help others less fortunate.
Total fee per rider: for the whole trip: Approx. £180 (One day £125) n.b this does not include Dinner costs etc.
A deposit of £100 per person is required on booking, via BACS to:
