The following message has been received from Simon Coppard, a paramedic, who has taken an interest in our two FA courses on 18th and 25th October.
This is a free course and well worth taking up the opportunity. Although it will prove beneficial when out with your fellow riders equally, god forbid anything should happen to a family member, the course will put you in good stead to be able to confidently manage the situation until help arrives. The course covers a good range of situations that you may come across (see the flyer). Evidence indicates that survival from out of hospital cardiac arrest is low, approximately 1 out of 10! However, early intervention of bystander (you) CPR in a cardiac arrest can significantly increase the chances of survival and improve neurological outcomes, especially if there is a defibrillator to hand.
So if you’re free I thoroughly recommend attending!
