There have been 64 ‘tourers’ rides in the first six months of this year. There would have been more but many rides have been cancelled due to unpleasant weather: rain, wind and, more recently, heat.
We aim to have three rides each week, on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. The Tuesday rides are usually about 25 miles and graded as 2B, ie relaxed touring rides over a route that is flattish with a few minor hills. The refreshment stop is usually at Ripe Village Stores. Occasionally, there are two rides on a Thursday or Sunday going at different paces but meeting up at the same café/tearoom.
Our rides aren’t just about cycling. An essential part of our rides are the refreshment stops. We always stop at a café or tearoom/garden for a rest and a chat over a cup of tea/coffee and cake. The picture above is a refreshment stop at the old Heathfield railway station which is now a splendid café.
All our rides are advertised on the club calendar.
