There have been 25 ‘tourers’ rides in the first three months of this year. There would have been more but the inclement weather has meant many rides have been cancelled. However, the weather is improving so cancellations should now be few and far between.
We aim to have three rides each week, on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. The Tuesday rides are usually about 25 miles and graded as 2B, ie relaxed touring rides over a route that is flattish with a few minor hills. The refreshment stop is usually at Ripe Village Stores. Occasionally, there are two rides on a Thursday or Sunday going at different paces but meeting up at the same café/tearoom.
Over the next three months there will be rides to a wide variety of places. Some will be quite close such as Knight’s Farm Café which is on the Cuckoo Trail just north of Polegate, see pic above. Others will be further afield such as Bexhill or Shoreham, about a 40 miles round trip. Also, there will be some longer distance rides to Worthing, Hastings and Littlehampton, the latter being a round trip of about 70 miles.
We usually do a Romney Marsh Tour each year. This year’s tour will be on Thursday 16 April and, at 38 miles, is shorter than normal. It’s ideal for anyone who doesn’t like hills as the route is virtually flat.
All our rides are advertised on the club calendar.
